Plantation Plaza Gas Explosion
On July 7, 2019 in Plantation, Florida, a gas explosion erupted at a plaza causing 23 injuries and destruction of local businesses. The blast occurred at the Market on University in what was believed to be a pizza restaurant that was no longer open.
There was believed to be a gas leak which led to the blast. Gas had been detected as it was an obvious smell, and crew was on the way to the shopping center when the blast occurred. Businesses are losing money as they are unable to resume operation, such as Zona Fresca.
And thus, a lawsuit has begun against the shopping center “Business owners say they could smell gas shortly before an explosion at the Market on University Plaza in Plantation that injured 23 people Saturday morning, according to multiple media reports,” said the South Florida Business Journal.
The discovery to find fault definitely requires expert analysis as this investigation is ongoing. The role that an expert witness could play in a case like this could ultimately shorten the time this case remains open and arrive at an outcome that is suitable for all victims and businesses involved.
Personal injuries actions are lawsuits facing ownership usually filed on behalf of an individual or multiple people. Each developer or owner sets the standards for their asset or has a management company either set those standards that have been universally accepted and adjust those standards based on the individual needs of the property. Basic to all is safety, that is provided in a myriad of ways, be it by security personnel, housekeeper, maintenance, marketing, leasing, management or executive personnel to name some of those responsible. Safety from personal injury, physical assault, theft and other issues is one form, the other is safety in one’s surroundings. Accepted standards may not be adhered to by developers/owners for many reasons, one usual reason is budgetary the other is those listed above whom have not done their jobs correctly.” - Dan Cetina, Expert Witness Pros.
